INTRODUCTION
Missionaries are men and women sent by God to carry the Gospel into cities, villages, and unreached regions. While they are called and anointed, they are still human and face real challenges—spiritual battles, financial limitations, emotional stress, isolation, and physical hardship. God never intended missionaries to stand alone. The Church is called not only to send them but also to strengthen and sustain them. When we support missionaries with prayer, encouragement, and practical help, we fulfill the law of Christ.
1. God Commands Us to Bear One Another’s Burdens Christianity is a life of shared responsibility. Galatians 6:2 “Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.” Missionaries carry heavy burdens in the field. When believers stand with them, pray for them, and support them, they are obeying Christ and strengthening God’s mission on earth.
2. Moses Was Supported Through Intercession One of the clearest examples of strengthening God’s servants is found in the life of Moses. Exodus 17:11–12 “And so it was, when Moses held up his hand, that Israel prevailed… but Moses’ hands became heavy…” As long as Moses’ hands were held up, Israel prevailed. This shows that victory in God’s work is connected to support. In the same way, missionaries need people who will “hold up their hands” through prayer and encouragement.
3. God Remembers Every Act of Support Nothing done for God’s servants is ever forgotten. Hebrews 6:10 “For God is not unjust to forget your work and labor of love which you have shown toward His name…” Every prayer, every financial gift, every message of encouragement, and every sacrifice made for missionaries is recorded by God. He sees it and rewards it.
4. Strengthening Missionaries Is a Form of Partnership When believers strengthen those sent by God, they become co-laborers in the Gospel. Philippians 2:25 Paul described Epaphroditus as a fellow worker who risked his life to support the ministry. Supporting missionaries is not secondary ministry—it is Kingdom partnership. It ensures that the Gospel continues to advance in difficult and distant places.
5. Strong Missionaries Produce Strong Impact When missionaries are strengthened, they are able to endure, preach boldly, plant churches, and disciple believers effectively. Romans 12:13 “Distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.” A strengthened missionary is a fruitful missionary. When the Church supports them, entire communities experience transformation through the Gospel. Conclusion God has called the Church to both send and sustain those He has sent. Strengthening missionaries is not optional—it is a biblical responsibility and a powerful expression of love. As we pray for them, encourage them, give to them, and stand with them, we become active participants in the mission of God. Together, we ensure that the Gospel reaches every village, nation, and people group.

Heavenly Father, thank You for the servants You have sent into the harvest field. Strengthen every missionary laboring in difficult places. Provide for their needs, protect them, and encourage their hearts. Raise up believers who will faithfully support and stand with them. Let Your Church be united in love and purpose until the Gospel reaches the ends of the earth. In Jesus’ mighty name, Amen.
